Euro-fever taking over the nation

June 06, 2016driversclub

Euro 2016 is set to kick off in earnest this week, with the continent's best footballing nations heading to France to vie for victory in what promises to be a thrill-packed tournament.

Here in the Petrol News office we're gearing up to support the home nations as they aim to go as far as possible in the competition, but one thing we're also passionate about is road safety.

That's why we'd like to highlight some top tips offered by GEM Motoring Assist regarding staying safe after watching the 'big match'.

Anyone planning to enjoy a drink when the game is being shown either at home or in their pub should remember the importance of avoiding drinking and driving, as even a small amount of alcohol in a person's system can have a drastic impact on their ability to drive safely.

Always remember that alcohol affects people differently, so if you do have a drink when watching the game – no matter how much – leave the car at home. Meanwhile, fans of the football should look out for one another and therefore, don't let friends drink and drive either.

Here's hoping for a great run of form for England, Wales and Northern Ireland in the coming tournament, but also that fans of the footy stay safe and act responsibly when supporting their team!
